Granada City

Street Photography and Architecture

Modern Life meets Moorish Light

A 4-night, 3-day photography holiday designed for a small group. Based in a beautifully restored boutique hotel in Granada’s historic centre, this immersive workshop explores two very different expressions of Moorish heritage.

In Granada, you’ll capture the opulent splendour of Islamic architecture at its height; ornate carvings, elegant courtyards, and the breathtaking Alhambra. Then, in the remote Alpujarras, you’ll discover its humbler cousin; a landscape of Berber-influenced villages, with flat-roofed houses, winding alleys and distinctive chimney pots that seem untouched by time. With a focus on street photography and architectural storytelling, expert tuition will guide you in refining both your creative vision and technical skills across these contrasting yet connected worlds.

Granada City

Over two full days we’ll explore the atmospheric streets of the Albaicín, the majesty of the Alhambra, and the striking silhouettes of Granada’s cathedral – punctuated by two unforgettable highlights: a dramatic flamenco shoot and a sunset balloon ride over the city.

Mornings begin with sunrise shoots across Granada’s rooftops, while golden and blue hour bring the city’s textures and shadows to life. We’ll photograph the lively fish market and surrounding eateries off Plaza de San Agustín, capturing candid scenes of local life and characterful detail.

Late afternoon and evenings are spent wandering the labyrinthine alleyways of the old town and the Rio Darro, shooting street performers and enjoying tapas life in the many cafes and bars that spill out onto the streets.

The Alpujarras

After experiencing the grandeur of Granada’s history, we’ll shift for to the quiet charm of the famous white villages of the Alpujrras, where simplicity and natural beauty take centre stage.

One full day will be spent exploring the whitewashed villages of the Poqueria Gorge – Capileira, Bubión & Pampaneira. These serene, Berber influenced hamlets lend themselves beautifully to black and white photography, with their stark contrasts, winding alleyways, and white-washed stone homes set against sweeping mountain backdrops.

It’s a slower, more meditative day of image-making – ideal for refining your composition and storytelling techniques in a truly timeless setting.
